Our Creative Communications team is hiring! 

We are seeking engaged, enthusiastic and friendly people to join the Creative Communications Department. You might recall that last year the student volunteers from MSP successfully launched a working satellite into space! Now we are looking for more volunteers to join us in our next chapter.

 

The following volunteer roles will form part of the Creative Communications team who are responsible for the internal and external communications, content creation, brand management, social media, media and national events management to support MSP’s strategic priorities. So, if you are currently studying any of the above - we'd love to hear from you! No previous experience required. 

WORK TYPE: Volunteer

 

*Please note that all roles within MSP, from the Managing Director to the newest member, are volunteer-based.

 

HOURS REQUIRED: 10 hours per week (on average)

 

LOCATION: 333 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 3000 (due to COVID-19 meetings are online)

IDEAL AVAILABILITY: Thursday evenings (virtual) and Saturday mornings

 

SUPERVISION & SUPPORT:

 

Reports to: Creative Communications Manager

Department: CComms

POSITION TITLE: Social Media Officer

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Social Media Officer (SMO) is responsible for daily management and engagement on all applicable social media platforms of the MSP.

 

The SMO will work with the Content Creator in planning and scheduling social media content and tactics, and conducting social media audit and reporting. In addition to managing already established social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), the SMO is responsible for seeking out ideas for new forms of engagement that will help the MSP build formidable networks and presence online.

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage and build the company’s social media profiles and presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other channels that may be deemed relevant (e.g. Instagram and YouTube)

  • Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our program, competitors and/or industry from existing leads and customers as well as from brand new audiences online

  • Utilise or learn social media monitoring and automation tools to improve social media outreach effectiveness and engagement

  • Track, measure, and analyse all initiatives to report on social media presence and influence growth as well as ROI

  • Create shareable social media content appropriate for MSP’s social media audiences that will spread awareness of both our brand and our contents

  • Work alongside others in the Marcomms team to help distribute content that educates and entertain our audiences, and support MSP marketing and branding goals

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Currently undertaking one of the following: Bachelor of Communication/Journalism/Media; or a Bachelor of Commerce with Marketing Major; any other similar degree that focuses on digital media at either undergraduate or graduate level

  • Available and able to commit to the program for at least 12 months

  • Competent verbal and written communication

  • Effective time management skills, organisation and ability to meet deadlines

  • An eagerness to learn more about space technology and space activity in Australia!

 

PERFORMANCE GOALS:

 

  • Attend all team meetings as well as other inter-department and organisation-wide meetings when required

  • Work with fellow MSP volunteers and other stakeholders in a professional manner at all times

  • Demonstrate the continued capability to work individually as well as contribute to teamwork and discussion

  • Contribute to the development of MSP through dedication and commitment to its work and its organisational culture and values (please read before applying)

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in learning more, and developing and mastering personal and professional skills

  • Ensure that the office space used during for work is left clean and presentable
